Art.com picks Carmichael Lynch Relate as PR AOR

Published on December 1st, 2017

Online art retailer Art.com has selected Carmichael Lynch Relate as its PR AOR.

The agency’s work on the account began last month, following a competitive RFP process.

Carmichael Lynch Relate is providing the company with PR strategy and counsel, earned media relations and outreach, experiential, social support, and influencer engagement.

“Art.com’s mission is to make art accessible to all by transforming the way people discover, personalize, share, and purchase art,” said agency president Julie Batliner. “They are continuing to innovate in those ways, so we are working with them as they move to that next stage of innovation as an online retailer.”

Beth Garcia, partner and home and design practice chair at the firm, is leading a team of seven on the account.

Art.com picked Carmichael Lynch Relate due to the firm’s “deep home and design expertise” and understanding of Art.com’s business needs, values, and company culture, said Lisa Sullivan-Cross, CMO of Art.com, via email.

“We liked this, and we chose them based on their insight-led strategy and innovative PR thinking,” she added.

Sullivan-Cross did not name the incumbent on the account, but said the company had “great partners.”

“We are entering a new era of innovation here at Art.com, [and] we wanted a PR agency with an innovative approach to match,” she said, when asked why the company brought on a new PR agency of record.

Budget information was not disclosed.

Art.com’s agency change took place after several executive leadership changes at the company over the past year. Last December, former Lyft CMO Kira Wampler joined the company as CEO and a member of the board of directors. Art.com also appointed Sullivan-Cross as CMO, Larissa Pommeraud as GM of emerging businesses; Christine Fernandez as chief experience officer and Quintin Mikell as SVP of operations this year.

In addition to Art.com’s presence in the U.S., it has 25 localized sites in Europe, Japan, Canada, Australia, Mexico, and South America.
