Going Into #DiningMode for Mother's Day

OpenTable, the world's leading provider of online restaurant reservations, wanted to take back the table as a place to connect.

On Mother's Day, the restaurant industry's No. 1 day for dining out, our global campaign encouraged diners in the U.S., Canada and Australia to give moms the gift of uninterrupted conversation.

The heart of the campaign was a humorous social video showing moms trying to connect with their kids over a meal only to be interrupted by constant beeps, dings, alerts and notifications. Other videos, social content and the landing page supported the campaign.

Nearly 700 OpenTable restaurants around the world opted in and supported #DiningMode with free drinks, desserts and appetizers for diners who checked their phones at the door.

Everyone ate up the results on OpenTable’s best Mother’s Day ever, with earned placements and social content that all bested benchmarks.
